Is this project endorsed by Cephalofair?
No. Cephalofair does not endorse or sponsor this product. This game uses original Gloomhaven assets shared by Isaac under creative commons license BY-NC-SA 4.0.
Do I need Gloomhaven to play this?
Yes, as the components in Gloomhaven are required to play.
Is this a "for-profit" project?
No, this is a not-for-profit endeavor and a purchase is not required to play. If you do not want to preorder the physical version, the files can be downloaded for free and can be used to print at home, or you may privately arrange for them to be printed through a print shop.
Has this been playtested?
Yes. All scenarios have been playtested with various party compositions and all classes have been thoroughly tested by veteran Gloomhaven players, some of which are official Frosthaven playtesters.
Is this game similar in complexity to Forgotten Circles?
No. The goal of the designers was to produce "more Gloomhaven", and players can expect a play experience similar to the base game.
Who designed the add-on?
The add-on was designed by outside creators separately from the Crimson Scales, but has been verified for quality and balance and comes highly recommended by the designers of the Crimson Scales. The content featured in the add-on is slightly more complex, and fully compatible with the Crimson Scales campaign.
Is "Trail of Ashes" separate from The Crimson Scales?
Yes, however The Crimson Scales is needed to play as Trail of Ashes integrates into a Crimson Scales campaign and uses assets found in the Crimson Scales box. If you already own The Crimson Scales, you can preorder "Trail of Ashes" without getting another copy of The Crimson Scales.
Preorder FAQ
Will you be using a print service?
Yes, due to the scale of the project, a printing company will be producing the bulk order. The bulk print order will be split between a US warehouse and international warehouse to fulfill individual orders.
When would I receive the game?
The second printing order was submitted to the printers and we are awaiting a production date. You can track the progress on the "Progress" page of the website, www.thecrimsonscales.com/progress . You will receive an email when production is complete and when the bulk order arrives in the fulfillment center (US or EU).
I signed up on the preorder registry list but no longer want to buy the game. What do I do?
No action is required on your part. There was no purchase commitment made when signing up on the list, so if you do not want to buy the game for any reason, you are not obligated to do so.
If I preorder the game now, can I decide to cancel my order in the future and get a refund?
No. Please only preorder the game if you are confident that you will not need to cancel the order. Please review all information, ask all questions and review materials before ordering. It will be too late to adjust the bulk production order after the webstore closes, and I am personally responsible for any losses incurred by cancellations.
After I place the preorder, who do I contact if I need to change my address?
You will receive an email notifying you that the games have arrived in the warehouse., followed by a tracking number once your order ships. You can change your shipping address at any point until the order arrives at the fulfillment center by sending an email to nhclogisticsnj@gmail.com with your order number and inquiry. You can also contact them in the event your order arrives damaged.
Where will my preorder money go?
The funds collected will go directly towards the print shop, fulfillment center, logistics companies and shipping carrier. We do not anticipate any proceeds, but in the event there are proceeds due to receiving more orders than expected and becoming eligible for a larger discount tier, the proceeds will be applied toward embellishing the game.
What does the preorder cost include?
The preorder price covers the cost to print the game as well as the cost to ship it from the printer to the logistics center, and for the logistics center to inspect the shipment and pack each order to ship to you.
What does the shipping cost include?
The shipping and handling cost includes shipping the game to you, but does not cover import taxes outside of the US, unless you are located in Europe or the UK. Any country-imposed taxes or fees are the responsibility of the recipient. If you are ordering from Europe or the UK, your order will be sent to the European fulfillment center.
Does the print shop have the option to ship individual orders?
No, a fulfillment center is required.
How will payment be collected?
Payment is collected securely on the Shopify portal to NHC Logistics. You can input a credit or debit card number through guest checkout.
How can I preview all of the assets?
You can preview the assets for The Crimson Scales + Add-On on the "Files" webpage at www.thecrimsonscales.com/files . The database is generously hosted by any2cards .
Will the game arrive with all of the pieces inside the box?
Yes, all of the components will be in the box. Cards will be shrinkwrapped in decks. To minimize assembly costs, class tuckboxes are not preassembled with cards. Due to the nature of the project, replacement parts will be issued based on limited availability and are not guaranteed.
Are miniatures included?
No. The printed box includes standees. You will have the opportunity to buy miniatures separately, or print them yourself with the public .STL files. For more information, visit www.thecrimsonscales.com/miniatures
If I don't want to buy the game now, can I do so in the future instead?
This is a not-for-profit endeavor and this is not going into retail. All preorders are being collected, and a bulk production run is being issued directly based on the quantity of preorders. You are welcome to download the materials and have them printed independently.
How can I stay updated on the status of my order?
We will update the Progress page (www.thecrimsonscales.com/progress), including the point in time when production is completed and the product arrives in the fulfillment centers.
What if I buy the game and I don't like it?
The designers are confident in providing the best experience possible, but since this is a not-for-profit endeavor, we do not have the means to provide refunds. Please conduct all research before buying.
